“Software needs to be the servant of the business, not its master.” This is the philosophy of BrainStorm owner, Ty Osborne and newly appointed Business Innovation Strategist, Tim Grimes. Tim goes on to say, “In order for the software to be the servant of the business, the business needs to call the shots and the software has to be considerate of the business vision and strategy.”
With over 30 years in automotive marketing and 20 years in driving digital transformation in companies such as Baxters and Cooldrive Auto Parts, Tim brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the automotive aftermarket industry.
Ty Osborne, founder, and CEO of BrainStorm Software, a leading business systems solutions provider in the automotive parts industry approached Tim, as he knew he’d be perfect for the role and a great asset to the BrainStorm Team.
“I’ve always had a lot of respect for Tim and he agrees with the way I do business, my values, and my vision. We needed someone knowledgeable that understands both sides of the business and technology puzzle and Tim was the perfect solution. We have a purpose to help clients eliminate wasted time, money, and resources on outdated business software processes and Tim can approach problems from a business strategic perspective, meaning we can more readily align the software solution to the business need.”
After studying marketing in the 90s, Tim was fascinated by how IT was changing the way marketers approached their jobs, and from there he was hooked.
“The reason I’ve decided to join Brainstorm is the same reason I did an IT degree two decades ago because there was a massive need for people with business strategy understanding to connect with people with technical understanding and that need still exists 20 years later. I knew the internet was going to be the game-changer back in the late 90s, which is why I signed up to complete an IT degree.”
Having been a client of BrainStorm’s and now working within the company, Tim understands what is required from both sides of the software development process and can bring these needs together in order for projects to succeed.
“Businesses need to leverage off the technology, use it as an enabler and make implementing business strategy easy. When I was at a previous company as General Manager we had a 50% increase in productivity from our sales reps by implementing a mobility solution, and at the same time, we dropped the internal sales workload by 33%. All of a sudden these people are hitting these numbers and they feel like they’re not working as hard. They were all asking, ‘why are my numbers looking better but my job has gotten easier?’ The answer was technology, technology BrainStorm built that worked to support the business strategy. I could line up dozens of examples, showing technology can be the enabler to improve businesses and improve the performance of staff, create a better customer service experience, make stock work harder, or simply improve profitability. The fact is, technology allows us to do what was impossible three decades ago, and to do it simply, quickly, and cost-effectively,” explained Tim.
Tim is an innovation and strategy specialist, helping businesses achieve more effective processes by automating and streamlining business systems.
If you are totally frustrated with your current technology stack and need a new way of doing, Tim is the expert you need. Or if you are feeling like there should be a better way of making technology work for you (there typically is), Tim is also your expert. Or maybe you just need to have a chat about technology, strategy, and what is possible, Tim is also that person (did we mention he loves a good ol’ chat!).
“Companies are leaving money on the table in regards to their use of technology by business processes, and I can show anyone in a very short period of time why and how they can improve their business systems to increase productivity and revenue.”
BrainStorm is offering a free 30-minute consultation with Tim, to help businesses roadmap what a future technology implementation could look like.
